I’m Sami-Jo—the gal behind the chair and the heart behind Carousel Cuts, where every haircut is about way more than just hair.
I salon a little differently around here. Carousel Cuts was created with intention: a sensory-friendly, ALL-AGES-WELCOME, judgment-free zone where everyone can feel safe, comfortable, and completely themselves. Whether it’s your first haircut or your fiftieth, I want you to feel seen, heard, and maybe even a little spoiled.
I’m a Certified Sensory Haircut Specialist and Master Stylist with over a decade of experience—but more importantly, I’ve learned how to meet people where they’re at. No matter your age, background, needs, or sensory quirks, you’ve got a place in my chair.
One thing you’ll hear me say often is “progress over perfection.” As long as we’re moving forward in a positive, supportive way here, that’s what really matters.
At Carousel Cuts, kindness and patience aren’t just a vibe—they are the whole blueprint. Every visit will feel like a mix between a cozy chat, a confidence boost, and a deep exhale.
My motto? It’s no big deal, banana peel.
Because getting your hair done should be simple, silly, and zero stress—like a snack break for your soul.
I can’t wait to meet you!
My journey into this industry began when I was a teenager, just trying to find my footing in a world that felt anything but steady. What started as survival became a calling—to create the kind of space I wish had existed when I was younger.
The salon became my safe space. I was working behind the chair as a single mom, often with my son in tow on the days I couldn’t find childcare. It wasn’t easy—and I quickly learned that when I was behind the chair, I was at peace. For that brief window of time, I didn’t have to worry about anything else. I could just be present, helping someone feel like the best version of themselves.
As the years went on, I gained experience, skills, and certifications—but I also noticed something shifting. The industry was moving faster. Patience was thinning. Compassion was fading. We were losing the human aspect that first drew me in: the connection, the care, the understanding.
That’s when I knew I had to create something different.
In 2024, I opened Carousel Cuts—not just as a salon, but as a response to everything I felt was missing. I wanted to build a space that welcomed everyone. A place where differences aren’t just accepted, but supported. Where care isn’t rushed. Where people of all ages and all needs feel seen.
As a certified Sensory Haircut Specialist and Master Stylist, I’ve shaped this space around the values that carried me through the hardest chapters of my life: grace, patience, and connection.
Carousel Cuts is the place I wish had existed when I was a child—a safe, calm refuge with someone who truly understood me. Now, it’s here. For my son, for me, and for so many others who need more than just a haircut.
This work has saved me more than once. Now, it’s my honor to pass that comfort on to you.

Laughter in the middle of the mess. These moments saved me.
Little pockets of joy in the middle of a storm.
Every step forward was for him—and with him.
The early days were tough… but at least we had fake mustaches!
